A Writer is Someone Who…

A writer is someone who … poetically poses their points. They have an elegant way of stating their thoughts, beliefs and stories. They delve in to their minds and spirits to withdraw the truth and create an image of it for the world to see.

A writer is someone who best expresses themselves through the written word; that method is the easiest, safest and most accurate to their personal truth. Writers are open-minded to the yin and yang of life, for if you cannot truly see, your interpretation of that vision is skewed.

A writer is someone who is a bit unstable in their emotions, teetering from one extreme to the other. Yet a true writer is someone who uses the act of writing to balance their feelings and find harmony in the discord.

A writer seeks to share their experiences, unabashedly, with others in order for them to gain from the wisdom of their foibles. Keeping that wisdom to oneself is actually the selfish act, not the desire to share.

A writer is courageous, for they have to overcome the fear of vulnerability in order to offer their life to others as a tool to learn from. To chronicle your fears and desires is intimate in and of itself, therefore the sharing of is the true test of trust, that the reader will not judge or use the information against you.

A writer is someone who commands respect and merits admiration. To be committed and true to your art in the face of materialism and greed is an arduous task.

A writer is someone who is carefree – unattached to neither objects nor time. They live in the realm of mental, emotional and spiritual. They are sensitive to nature and the ever present energy around us.

Lastly, a writer is someone who is giving and compassionate. The intended result of writing is to enlighten, empower and glorify this earth and all of its inhabitants. It is a selfless act and a loving one. It is a wish for peace, love and harmony. Knowing all of this in my head and my heart, I am proud beyond measure to consider myself a writer.

Crazy

Why must I be the crazy one?
Can you not see the magnificence of the mountains?
Feel the immense power of the ocean?
Hear the harmony of the forest?
Understand our place in this universe?
Maybe it is you.
Maybe you are the one that is deaf, dumb and blind.

Ebb and Flow

The tide has changed in this sea which has come to symbolize our love. Once unpredictable and erratic, it follows a steady rhythm that could only be orchestrated by the moon’s influential hand. There is a comfort in this new ebb and flow, reminiscent of the ocean’s energy at dusk and at dawn, simultaneously powerful and peaceful. Walking towards this body of water as if in a trance, I peel away my clothes, shut my eyes and surrender. The waves wash over me, wipe away my fears and pull me towards its deepest sea.

Makes Me Feel

He makes me feel
like the
brightest flame
tallest tree
sweetest fruit
purest snow
softest breeze
strongest rock
wildest wave
saddest song
clearest night
and the closest
I’ve ever come
to perfection.

In Good Company

The Birds gently wake me with their eager chatter.
The Wind plays with my hair and softly kisses my cheek.
The Trees protect me with their magnificence.
The Sun embraces me with its warmth and strength.
The Ocean advises me with its infinite wisdom.
The Stars indulge my wildest dreams.
The Moon listens patiently to my deepest secrets.
And the Crickets lull me to sleep with their nightly song.
How can I ever feel alone in this world,
When I am in such good company?

Lover Moon

What mysteries the moon must possess?
She knows the answers to intimate questions,
Yet like a coy seductress, she will never reveal them.
Captivating, fascinating and mesmerizing,
Not only does she illuminate the night sky,
She commands the tides and eclipses the sun.
Her beauty alone inspires the heart,
Her radiance silently reassures the soul.
Part temptress - she reflects your deepest desires,
Part lover - she holds the key to their fulfillment.
Intriguing all with the secrets she keeps,
Many a person has fallen under her spell.
No use fighting against her magic,
For her love can unleash your most treasured passion.
